Plog 16th August 2010

August 16th, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

I don’t want you to get lost in your own little word (!) so I added a loving ‘L’  and its avatar came down on the wings of heart-shaped buoyancy to grace the unrestricted interval between ‘r’ and ‘d’.  Please see image above

It can be perplexing when the double you does battle; say, when you are in a dilemma between two competing options.  Will you save for a holiday or invest in gym membership?  Like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, the double you is stretched between conflicting loyalties.

In effect, you are paralysed into a motionless state of tension.  Oh, frustration!  ‘O’ – the double you is followed by a vicious circle that longs to be complete and knows it’s in turmoil.  Ah, knowledge!  ‘R’, Yes, there is a light in the hovering cloud of oppressive uncertainty that dims your clear perception.  There’s an interval between each of these characters (apart from the double you which is inextricably interconnected), ending with the dratted ‘D’.

You can get lost in your own little word

To the point where you no longer hear it

You know it’s not wrong, and so you cling on

To the double you with its internal                                            W

Infernal bickering, attached to O.                                               O

To owe what?  Some debt to R common cause                          R

Ahhh!  Humanity – now there’s a D-cline                                D

You see?  The double you is battling

Like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, prepared

To compete in spite of their common aims

It could drive you mad – and so you reach out

To the circle of O, which could complete

The cycle of fulfilment entirely

And yet there’s an echo of empty doom

As the ‘oh’ sounds gormless and wants an ‘ah!’

Which it duly gets, as you would expect

All helping to reach the chosen dead end.

Of D-day or dumb-day in the tweedle

Twisting deviance of elaborate

Steps that need evidence, which is just that

Dense and impenetrable to the dance

Of evibody.  I mean, what the ‘ell?

You can get lost in your own little word

To the point where you no longer hear it

Allowing the scripts to play themselves out

As though there is just no alternative.

When you accept love, you welcome the world

That is the L – the exquisite feeling

Of love that embraces both sides – both the

Whirring ‘wor’ of battle (or is it whore

Of taint?), and the ‘d’ of deepest joining.

You can get lost in your own little world

A more expansive place to inhabit

Or you can welcome us in.

As usual with poetry, a ballad can be distilled into more succinct verse.  I’ve made this one into a sonnet, which is the subject of my next blog post.  There is always the question of whether this adds to or detracts from the original delivery.  I would be interested in your views . . .

If you have this sort of question concerning your own work, feel free to ask the rest of this community.  It is always a privilege to share your unique  ideas.

Hey there, This page is rather educational and fun to read. I am a huge follower in the items blogged about. I also adore reading the comments, but it appears as a lot of readers need to stay on topic to try and add something for the original topic. I would also encourage all of you to bookmark this page for the most utilized service to help get the term out. Thanks
